A Winsome Word (August)

ree

Hi everyone,

Summer is the season for rid'n the waves at the beach, go'n to a Phillies game, cook'n hot dogs over a grill, fresh squeezed lemonade, crab-cakes in Annapolis, MD, early morning fish'n, eating a box of salt-water taffey, camping, the drive-in movies, riding bikes, playing golf, driving with the top down, and work'n on your sun tan.  The summer is when we get more active... after dinner walks, 18 holes of golf, chasing a tennis ball, digg'n in the garden, tearing out an engine, cutt'n the grass, pull'n weeds, and jogging round the neighborhood.

Summer is also the time when we depart from our normal routines.  Beware, the devil never slows down or takes a vacation.  Indeed, the summer can be a time to face more enticements, not less.  Does this mean that we should slow down so as not to fall into temptation?  No.  It means that we need to be that much more dedicated to spending time with God each & every morning. There is simply no subtitute for personal time with Christ each day.  Enticements are sure to come.  But the victory is won, not by being far from temptation, but by remaining close to Christ.

Wishing you and your families well this summer,

Pastor Win Green
