What is Eleanora's Closet?

Last year, Eleanora Beam checked her coat closet and found that she had an excess of coats. It occurred to her that there were people in need of coats, so she started picking out coats that she didn't need. She took these 8 excess coats to church and put them on a rack at the entrance to the Fellowship Hall. There, she hung a sign that said "Need a coat-take a coat. Free". Ray Penick came to her and said, "Hey, this is a great idea. I have extra coats." He added his coats to the rack. Then it snowballed with coats and other clothing and Eleanora's Closet was born. It has grown from coats to all wearing apparel. The current sign was designed by Paula Evelhoch. We are now giving away new and gently used clothing to the community. Check out our stand at the New Hope Mobile Food Pantry Truck on their monthly Tuesday stops at Trinity, see our calendar for the date.
